Supporting an active economy on the East Shore
ESLDC
The East Shore Local Development Corporation promotes the economic vitality of Staten Island's East Shore. After Hurricane Sandy impacted area businesses, the NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program proposed the creation of a local development corporation. The Governor’s Office drew on expertise from the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce and formed the ESLDC to restore the area to its former vibrancy. ESLDC assists potential business owners with development projects, attracts a mix of retailers and consumers, and revitalizes commercial corridors impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
SICCF
The Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Foundation promotes commerce and tourism on Staten Island and encourages businesses and cultural organizations to work together to create value within the community. Professional development resources benefit Staten Island businesses and provide particular support for minority-led companies and those in the technology sector. In addition, summer internships are offered to students so that they can gain professional experience in a wide range of industries while contributing to the local economy.
